    In the current educational policy debates about the language of education, the second language - especially the written language - competences of pupils with a first language other than German are the focus. Against this background, this study deals with the development of written language skills of multilingual students in the syntactic area. The syntactic development in Turkish and German will be examined in the 7th, 10th and 12th year using written argumentative texts. For this purpose, simpler and more complex sentence linking methods are taken into account in both languages. The investigation of the effects of bilingual vs. Monolingual schooling is based on two groups of test persons: (a) from a bilingual school with Turkish as the language of instruction from the 1st grade and (b) from a German monolingual school with Turkish as the second foreign language from the 7th grade
