    Cette étude, syntaxique et textuelle, se penche sur le problème de la définition de l’apposition. Les grammaires de l’allemand et les études linguistiques consacrées à l’apposition font apparaître de grandes divergences quant à l’extension de la notion qui reste encore empreinte du poids de la tradition grammaticale. Les critères relevés dans les différentes définitions (accord casuel, accolage, identité référentielle, non restrictivité, suppressibilité, parenté avec une structure propositionnelle ou relation prédicative) sont soumis à un examen critique qui motive une redéfinition en intension et en extension de l’objet d’étude : la construction détachée à support nominal est une prédication supplémentaire averbale dans laquelle l’apport GN2 peut morphosyntaxiquement toujours se positionner directement à droite du support GN1. Cette définition permet de distinguer la construction détachée de phénomènes considérés comme appositifs (le GN en als et wie, la dislocation, la construction absolue).La mise à distance de GN2 par rapport à GN1 s’explique par la répartition et la hiérarchisation de l’information dans l’énoncé et au-delà, dans le texte. La construction détachée apporte les éléments pertinents pour la compréhension du texte. Cette fonction explicative instaure et entretient l’ethos coopératif du locuteur-scripteur dont celui-ci peut jouer à des fins argumentatives.Le corpus d’étude (volume 2) est composé de textes de presse et de textes littéraires contemporains. ; This syntactic and textual study examines the various ways apposition can be defined. German grammars and linguistic studies devoted to apposition vary widely in the range of that notion, which is still very much under the influence of grammatical tradition. The various criteria which appear in definitions (case agreement, adjacency, referential identity, non-restrictiveness, deletability, similarity to a grammatical clause, subject-predicate relation) are critically examined, which leads to a redefinition of the object of our study, both intensionally and extentionally: noun-based detached constructions can be seen as additional averbal predications in which the appositive NP2 can always be morphosyntactically positioned immediately to the right of the NP1 base. Our definition makes it possible to distinguish detached constructions from phenomena which are usually considered as appositive (als- or wie-introduced NPs, dislocations, absolute constructions).NP2 displacement away from NP1 results from the distribution and prioritization of information within utterances, and further at the textual level. Detached constructions provide relevant elements for textual comprehension. This explanatory function creates and maintains a high level of mutual comprehension between the speaker/writer and the reader, which the speaker can use for argumentative purposes.The corpus of our study (vol. 2) is made up of newspaper and magazine articles and contemporary literary texts.

    Cette thèse sur le changement des normes communicatives en allemand contemporain se positionne dans le paradigme explicatif du changement linguistique par Rudi Keller, connu sous le nom de « théorie de la main invisible ». L’objectif de recherche est de montrer par l’analyse de cinq faits « variants » que le changement des normes communicatives a lieu sous l’impulsion d’un désir des locuteurs germanophones contemporains de plus d’authenticité et de respect de l’autre. Cette mentalité communicative, héritée de la remise en cause sociétale par les mouvements contestataires de la fin des années 1960, conditionne les attentes des locuteurs germanophones dans la réception des discours publics en terme d’ethos et de positionnement éthique. Au corpus sur lequel sont effectuées les analyses linguistiques des cinq faits variants – les « mots à charge négative » (ou « belastete Wörter »), les néologismes euphémistiques, la neutralisation du genre, l’ethos des locuteurs politiques, le tutoiement d’adresse – composé de documents prescriptifs universitaires, de discours politiques, et de supports publicitaires de l’espace public allemand, s’ajoute un corpus de réception relevant du type épilinguistique, composé de métacommentaires de locuteurs non-spécialistes. L’étude révèle la parole des locuteurs ordinaires comme signe annonçant et accompagnant le changement linguistique. ; This PhD dissertation focuses upon the change of communicative norms in contemporary German and positions itself on the explanatory paradigm of language change by Rudi Keller,also known as “the theory of the invisible hand”. My research aims at pointing out – through the analysis of five “variant” facts – that the change of communicative norms is driven by the desire of contemporary German native speakers for more authenticity as well as respect for the other. The communicative mentality inherited from the counter-culture movements in the late 1960’s that challenged society order influences German native speakers’ expectations towards the reception of public discourses in terms of ethos and ethical positioning. In addition to the corpus upon which the linguistic analyses of the five variant facts are carriedout – the “negative words” (or “belastete Wörter”), euphemistic neologisms, gender neutralisation, the ethos of politicians, being on first name terms with someone – which consists of prescriptive college documents, political discourses and the advertising supports ofthe German public space – , there is a reception corpus that amounts to epilinguistic type and is composed of metacomments from non-specialist speakers. The study brings the speech ofordinary speakers to the fore as a sign that announces and goes along with language change.

    Ce travail analyse la manière dont les expressions de la troisième personne dénotant des êtres humains peuvent référer aux destinataires d’un énoncé – par opposition à l’allocutaire – en français, anglais et allemand. Les formes de la troisième personne incluent tout élément linguistique déclenchant un accord à la troisième personne, considérée comme une catégorie hétérogène : pronoms (il(s), elle(s), on, en français, he, she, they, one en anglais, er, sie, man en allemand), pronoms interrogatifs et indéfinis (qui, quiconque, whoever, anyone, wer), quantifieurs (tous, chacun, certains, all, every, anyone, some, alle, jeder, manche, etc.), relatives précédées par ceux (ceux qui, those who, diejenigen, die) et groupes nominaux contenant un nom dénotant un agent humain (peuple, personnes, citoyen, people, citizen, Volk, Leute, Menschen, Bürger, etc.). A partir d’un corpus de débats parlementaires en France, en Allemagne et au Royaume-Uni, nous montrons que les locuteurs peuvent référer aux destinataires, conçus comme un rôle discursif distinct des personnes empiriques, par des expressions de la troisième personne. L’accent mis sur la première et la deuxième personnes a conduit à un relatif oubli des formes de la troisième personne. Pourtant, la conceptualisation des destinataires par des expressions de la troisième personne est explicite, omniprésente, fonctionnelle et se produit à une fréquence égale dans l’ensemble du corpus. En se concentrant sur le rôle discursif du destinataire, une attention particulière est accordée au système constitué par la deuxième et la troisième personnes, prises dans leur continuité plutôt que leur opposition, dans l’acte de référence. ; Based on a corpus of British, French, and German parliamentary debates, this research presents an integrated account of how third person expressions denoting human referents can encode the targets of an utterance – as opposed to the addressee. Third person forms include every linguistic item triggering third person agreement, regarded as a heterogeneous category: third person pronouns (he, she, one, they in English, il(s), elle(s), on in French, er, sie, man in German), interrogative and indefinite pronouns (whoever, qui, quiconque, wer), quantifiers (all, every, many, some, anyone, tous, chacun, beaucoup, certains, alle, jeder, viele, manche, etc.), relative clauses introduced by those (those who, ceux qui, diejenigen, die), and noun phrases containing a noun denoting a human agent (people, citizen, peuple, personnes, citoyen , Volk, Leute, Menschen, Bürger, etc.). I combine a trilingual contrastive research design with a qualitative discourse-analytic and a quantitative corpus- based perspective to determine how reference to the targets of an utterance, conceived as a speech role distinct from the empirical persons, can be achieved by third person expressions. With most existing research focusing on the first and second persons, third person reference has been considerably neglected. Yet, the conceptualisation of targets via third person expressions is explicit, pervasive, functional, and occurs with equal frequency throughout the political spectrum. By focusing on the newly refined speech role of the target, attention is given to the continuity between second and third grammatical persons as a system referring to addressees and targets of an utterance. ; In dieser Arbeit präsentiere ich eine umfassende Analyse der Funktionsweisen von englischen, französischen und deutschen Ausdrücken der dritten Person zur Bezeichnung menschlicher Referenten, an die eine Äußerung gerichtet ist. Zu den Formen der dritten Person gehören alle sprachlichen Elemente, die in Bezug auf die grammatischen Kategorien Person und Numerus mit Verben in der dritten Person verwendet werden: Personalpronomen (er, sie, man im Deutschen, he, she, they, one im Englischen, il(s), elle(s), im Französischen), Interrogativ- oder Indefinitpronomen (wer, whoever, qui, quiconque), Quantifikatoren (alle, jeder, viele, manche, all, every, many, some, anyone, tous, chacun, beaucoup, certains), Relativsätze (diejenigen, die, ceux qui, those who), und Nominalsyntagmen, die ein Substantiv enthalten, das einen menschlichen Referenten bezeichnet (Volk, Leute, Menschen, Bürger, people, citizen, peuple, personnes, citoyen, etc.). Anhand eines Korpus britischer, französischer und deutscher Parlamentsdebatten kombiniere ich ein sprachkontrastives Forschungsdesign mit einer qualitativen Diskursanalyse und einer quantitativen korpusbasierten Perspektive, um zu bestimmen, wie der Bezug auf die gemeinten Referenten erfolgt. Bisher hat sich die Forschung auf Formen der ersten und zweiten Person konzentriert und die dritte Person vernachlässigt, obwohl explizite, funktionale Bezüge auf den intendierten Referenten einer Äußerung in der dritten Person allgegenwärtig sind und im gesamten politischen Spektrum vorkommen.

    Qu’est-ce que l’« ironie » ? Les multiples définitions de ce concept renvoient à des phénomènes si divers qu’il est impossible d’opérer une classification raisonnée, englobant toutes les manifestations possibles de ce que l’on nomme « ironie ». L’on peut cependant constater que la recherche sur l’ironie se décline en trois grandes orientations, correspondant aux trois domaines d’étude distincts que sont la linguistique, la littérature et la philosophie. Il nous a semblé intéressant de tenter d’approcher cette notion de manière plus globale en vérifiant si les différentes définitions de l’ironie ne peuvent pas, sinon trouver un dénominateur commun, du moins entrer en interaction. Ce travail croise ainsi les différents champs d’étude consacrés à l’ironie, afin d’aboutir à une conception plus globale du phénomène. Nous avons tâché de surmonter les contradictions qu’entraîne la confrontation des diverses définitions théoriques particulières du concept en privilégiant une approche empirique du phénomène dans une œuvre particulière : L'Homme sans qualités de Robert Musil. Notre travail a pour objectif de déterminer s'il est possible de mettre en évidence l’existence de « signaux » linguistiques de l’ironie comme « rapport au réel » au niveau du texte littéraire où elle s’exprime. Nos recherches s’articulent ainsi autour de trois grands axes: l'analyse pluridisciplinaire de la notion d’ironie, l'analyse du contexte historique et culturel de L'Homme sans qualités comme « rapport ironique au réel » puis, enfin et surtout, l'analyse des signaux linguistiques et stylistiques propres à rendre l’ironie du texte. Les résultats de cette démarche se montrent particulièrement fructueux dans la mesure où le croisement des diverses approches possibles de l’ironie permet de cerner de façon plus exacte le sens de l’ironie musilienne mais aussi de comprendre de façon générale, à partir du texte de Musil, les mécanismes linguistiques de cette ironie. ; What is « irony »?     Dans l’étude de l’usage des expressions référentielles, de nombreux travaux se sont intéressés à la relation entre formes linguistiques et fonctions saisies en termes informationnels, et la sensibilité précoce du jeune enfant à certaines facettes de la structuration informationnelle a été montré, notamment au statut attentionnel des référents et la dimension du topic-commentaire. La linguistique interactionnelle a adopté un point de vue complémentaire sur les expressions référentielles, et a montré comment les locuteurs signalent et accomplissent par leur choix d’une expression référentielle non seulement la référence, mais également diverses tâches liées à la gestion de l’interaction même. Nous avons souhaité, dans ce travail, apporter un éclairage multidimensionnel à la question de l’usage des expressions référentielles, et notamment au contraste entre formes faibles, fortes et disloquées, dans deux langues qui diffèrent quant aux moyens linguistiques employés pour marquer le topic.Notre analyse repose sur un corpus transversal de 12 enfants francophones et germanophones, âgés entre 2 et 3 ans. Nous avons analysé les formes et usages des expressions référentielles produites par les enfants et les adultes, en prenant en compte des facteurs morpho-syntaxiques, informationnels et interactionnels.Nos résultats montrent la complémentarité de ces différents facteurs dans l’explication des usages chez l’enfant et chez l’adulte.
